Taum Sauk/Ozark Trail Maintenance Outing 09/18/2010 08:45:00 AM Maintenance
Join us for a day of maintenance on the Taum Sauk section of the OT. This will be a combination sawyer and routine maintenance outing to be conducted on the sections of trail impacted by one quick and powerful storm in May of 2009. We need anyone willing to haul cut limbs from the trail, lop overhanging branches or nail signs. Most of all, we need certified sawyers. Camping will be free at Taum Sauk State Park for Friday and Saturday nights and there will be a free BBQ dinner provided for the Saturday evening meal.
It could be a warm day out in the woods. Be sure to bring lots of fluids to stay hydrated, snacks and a lunch to eat on the trail, and bug spray. Please wear sturdy boots, work gloves, and long pants should be worn to protect your legs from the debris and undergrowth.
More information about where we will meet up will be available closer to event. Don't hesitate to contact the leader with questions. It will be an awesome day!!!

First Annual OTA Boots, Bikes, Bridles and Bluegrass Family Festival 10/16/2010 09:00:00 AM Recreation
Folks, it is time to celebrate our seven years of trail building and maintenance work together. We're going to have a week-end party, OTA's first family recreation event - at Bass River Resort on Friday evening, October 15 through Sunday, Octopber 17. Rent a log or cozy cabin for you and your family. Or receive free tent camping Friday and/or Saturday night at the usual OTA group camping locaton - courtesy of our hosts, Stephan and Julie Bass.
For a modest per person fee (to be decided), OTA will accept the first 300 people who register on-line. They will receive brown bag lunch, BBQ dinner, gear raffle, bonifire and bluegrass music on Saturday as well as hiking and biking shuttles along the newly completed Courtois Section of the Ozark Trail. Maybe horse back riding as well. We'll see what interest there is from our equestrian friends who know best how to do this.
On Sunday the Bass River Resort will provide, at their regular prices, a country breakfast at their dining room - as well as canoe, kayak or tube floats on Courtois Creek for those so inclined. More information soon!

After the trail build we will go back to the Campground and put out a feast. We are asking each person bring one of their favorite dishes to the event (you can put your dish in the comments field when you sign up).
