National Trails Day - June 5th,  2004

The Ozark Trail Association celebrated National Trails Day with an award ceremony, three separate hikes, and a post-hike BBQ.  At the award ceremony we honored the 100+ volunteers who worked on the Ozark Trail this past year, and made special presentations to outstanding volunteers.

Gwen Fuehring receives her Red Jacket award.

Jeff Goetter accepts his Red Jacket.

Robert Smith couldn't attend the award ceremony, but we wanted him to see his jacket!

Red Jacket winners have contributed over 1,000 volunteer hours to the trail.  Thanks, folks!

This is the Middle Fork section of the OT; this portion was constructed this past winter.  Look how quickly the undergrowth comes back!

This piece of the Middle Fork was built on REI day last September.

Greg enjoys a lunch of kipper snacks at the headwaters on the Middle Fork of the Black River.

Super Steve!
Thanks to everyone who attended!

Our next construction outing is September 25th - have a good summer and happy trails.
