It was 15 degrees on a SuperBowl Sunday, yet 10
dedicated souls showed up to build trail! (click on an image for a full-size view;

Before.... |

After! |

This is what the trail looks like after the SWECO dozer cuts
away a base tread (saving MUCH work) |

There is a bit of work to do before this becomes a finished
trail |

First, Russ takes a pulaski to cut a good upslope |

Next, we pull off all the sluff the dozer left for us |

Next we create a flat tread |

Chris packs down some soil into a loose hole |

Nice upslope! Our tread is about a pulaski-length in width
(30"-36") |

Finished trail! Take a look at the first picture for
comparison. |

A closer look. The trail has a gentle slope for water
run-off, and the downslope is drawn away and clean. In a
year, vegetation and leaves will make this trail look great.
(Note: we still have to cut the tree stump at ground level) |

Another portion of the trail, gently winding along the contour
of the hill |

John is tired but happy after another fine day on the trail |
Great work, folks! Many
thanks to Chris, Russ, Amanda, Jeff, Robert, John, Paul
and the Gavin Family! |
