This past weekend on May 6th witnessed the successful launch of the first annual Challenge Hike. Incredible thanks to Steve Liescheidt for the tremendous effort he put into this adventure. He recruited 17 hikers who completed the hike and raised over $27,000 for the OTA for this inaugural event. Many of these hikers had never heard of the OTA or been on the trail before. Thank you for your efforts and Welcome to the OTA family.
In addition to the hikers he also recruited sponsors who provided cash support as well as in-kind support to help make the event special. Please honor their support of the OTA by supporting their businesses and make sure you let them know you appreciate their contributions.
One last comment to make. The OTA is a volunteer based organization and is successful at what it's able to do because of the quality of our volunteers and the sense of family that quality generates. Steve decided to apply his efforts to our cause because of the assistance, encouragement, and enthusiasm of Matt Atnip in helping Steve get another event started for the Cystic Fibrosis a couple years ago. We have some truly awesome volunteers!
