Wappapello Section-Ron & Rosie perhaps?

Postby mike » Tue Feb 03, 2015 2:57 pm

Ron and Rosie,

Looks like you two have posted a few updates on the condition of the Wappapello Section of the trail which I do appreciate. I have plans to hike that section this coming weekend starting at the Highway 172 Trailhead and ending at the Sam A Baker Trailhead. Looks like the lake will be at winter pool so no problems with high water hopefully. Any additional information or caution you might offer on this section would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Hiked the Wappapello Section from PA 52 south and had trouble crossing the creek between mile 9 and 10. Actually backtracked back to PA 52. Plan to finish the section to mile 15 area the week of January 22nd starting at PA 55, which is around mile 11. After that point I will have hiked the entire Wappapello section this fall and winter using only day hikes.

Hiked the Wappapello section of the OT from PA 55 to the 15 mile mark today, January 24, 2017. Also did the Greenville spur toward the new section toward Greenville. Total of 15 miles. No real problems except all the downed trees and limbs in the 10 to 11 mile area.

Sorry we have not replied sooner. We liked hiking the Wappapello section. It has been a while since we did. Not sure we can help. Also liked the Victory section.
