Ozark Terms

Postby kconafly » Tue Jan 03, 2017 4:41 pm

All,

An area of interest of mine are the words we use to describe the Ozark landscape. There have been a number of unique terms I have heard over the years to describe aspects of the Ozark landscape. For example, a slab refers to a concrete bridge across a low water crossing (cf. Butts Slab) or a branch refers to a stream flowing from a spring(noted in the Ozark Trail Guidebook). ARe there any other unique terms given to aspects of landscape in the Ozarks?
