Its never to early for ticks.

FYI On Friday March 14 I started a 3 day hike on the Courtois section just south of Bass River. I would have bet my trekking poles that it was too early for ticks. Friday was nice, Saturday was gorgeous, and Sunday I walked back in the snow. Still found 3 fully imbedded ticks when I got home.

I have been removing ticks from our dog after every hike for the last month. I would think after the winter we had they would be late to show up, Wrong.

I've heard from a few other people that they've already had ticks this year. I didn't get any two weeks ago but I'll definitely be on the look out this weekend.
