Current River Section

Post a narrative about your trip on the Ozark Trail

Current River Section

Postby jmoore » Tue Mar 09, 2010 11:17 am

A group of 9 departed from the HWY 60 trailhead the morning of March 6th and headed northbound on the Current River Section. We traveled on a beautifully maintained trail under perfect conditions. By 5 o'clock that night we had made our way 17.8 miles to Stegall Mountain where we camped. Along the way we passed two crews from the Winona maintenance group and thanked them for their work. Sunday morning we headed to Rocky Falls where we encountered sweet trail magic...a cold Budweiser was floating along the creek. We passed it around, and then found another one up on the falls. Some of us took a swim and others just basked in the March sun. We left Rocky Falls and continued northbound to Klepzig where we had lunch and passed a large group from the Division of Youth Services. A short distance later we ran into Kathy and crew making things even better than they already were. By 4 o'clock we had reached HWY 106 and made hast back to STL to see our families. All in all it was a great trip on my now favorite section of the OT. Thanks to all the volunteers that weekend for keeping the trail in fantastic shape.
There will be an additional narrative and pics at http://missouribackpacking.blogspot.comwhen I find a moment to work on it. jm

Thank's for getting your guys out this past weekend. We all couldn't have asked for a better time and weather along with being with old and new friends.
