Blair Creek trip report - 11/1 to 11/3

This trip report comes from Mardy Eimers in Columbia, MO

Three of us did the Blair Creek section from Blair Fen TH to Powder Mill
TH from 11-1 to 11-3. We had not done that part of the Ozark Trail. The
leaves were perfect, the weather great, we were all very impressed with
the Trail. We went 4+ miles on Saturday afternoon to Laxton Hollow, 10
miles to Little Blair Creek on Sunday, and the remainder on Monday.

I have never given a trail report before and did not have a GPS, but this
is what I can tell you. The signage was perfect, absolutely perfect. We
never got lost, not once, and were able to move quickly alone and stop
when we wanted never to worry about whether we were on the right trail or
not. Lots of leaves were down in some areas, but it made no difference and
could follow the trail the entire way. The mowing helped a lot and I can't
thank those of you who did enough a few weeks ago. Big help. There were
two areas that I remember that had a fair amount of down trees over the
trail. The first area was at about the 7.0 mile mark (just after you leave
Blair Fen) along Blair Creek until you get to about the 8.5 mile mark
before you cross P283. The second area was from about the 21.5 mile mark
to about the 23.0 mile mark or Bloom Creek. There are some very large
trees over the trail in this area, all laying the same way, and it looks
like some significant winds blew through because a fair amount of trees
were down throughout the area. BTW, the mile markers I am giving you are
from the Ozark Trail Guidebook and as I'm sure you can tell, we started at
the 6.0 mile marker based on the book.

One of my buddies that went with me, we have gone on 18 backpacking trips
together since our first in April of 2000 (almost all in Missouri),
thought this was one of the most beautiful trails we had been on.
