We started mid afternoon at the lake and hiked down to Panther creek. We set up and early camp for us and chilled out by its small series of pools just off the trail. This morning we perfected our cooking muffins and finished up at Hwy A. The trail overall was in real good condition. one section south of the lake was really grown up but that was a very small percentage of the length of trail we were on. Last night we had coyotes close to camp for a little bit which was sweet and this morning we saw 3 turkeys and one fat raccoon that ran up a tree and sprawled out on a limb.

Glad to hear you had a good trip. I'm one of the Adopt-A-Trail people for the section of South Trace Creek (Hwy 32 south to Hwy A), and was there doing some trail maintenance just a few weeks ago. There are a few trees down (residuals from the ice storms of 18 months ago), but the trail is well-marked and in very good shape. In the next few weeks, we should have many of the trees removed and hope to have the trail cut to remove the weeds. In some places the overgrowth is substantial. By fall, it will be in great shape!

PS: Hope the bugs weren't too bad...

Hi Jack: after your earlier very detailed trail conditions report we were able to get some sawyers (Americorps) to
do your segment of trail in late July. Also our mower Nate recently did the mowing of the whole Trace Creek
section (that's one appreciated mower!) so folks should have clear sailing now from end to end. Ed
