Blair Creek - March 2007

This weekend we hiked the Blair Creek section from Midridge. What a nice section of trail. We started at Midridge and had no problems following the trail. The signage is excellent. At one point we looked down the trail and saw 5 different blazes at the same time! As we got further in the signs eased up a little, but the trail was still very clear and in great condition. I don't think I saw even one spot that needed any tread work.

At the end of our first day we found a nice campsite just up-stream from where you have to cross the Blair. We got there at about 3pm having made great time all day. This left us with plenty of time to play in the water and relax. The funny part of this campsite was that someone had mounted a phone on a tree, and even ran a phone wire under the gravel for a ways. Since our cells had no hope of connecting out there, we gave the tree phone a try. As you can probably imagine, it didn't workout too well.

Sunday we crossed the Blair and hiked down to powder mill. A considerable difference in the amount of elevation changes, but the views were worth it. Also the creeks and springs were crystal clear and really running, so water was never a problem.

Signage on the Blair

Somebody went wild down there a few years back. At one spot, we decided to count how many markers we could see without moving and counted 13!!
